Job Summary

 

The Lightpath DevOps Engineer is responsible for building a best-in-class CI/CD pipeline. The DevOps engineer will participate in the full lifecycle development of software and implement all DevOps procedures to support the CI/CD process including the automation of the build, test and deploy pipelines. The engineer will oversee code branching, merging and conflict resolution and compile packages for deployment into non-production and production environments with the goal of achieving the highest level of pipeline automation. The DevOps engineer will also be responsible for providing release documentation to ensure all release contents are fully understood. The role will also provide post-installation L3 support as needed.

 

Key Non-Reporting Relationships

 

Peer Developer - Developers work on a team as a cohesive unit - sharing knowledge, reviewing code, receiving, and incorporating critique and feedback.  Developers participate in design, planning, retrospective, and estimating exercises.

Project Manager/BA - discuss vision and approach, provide status updates, respond to inquiries about functionality, give input on business documentation.

App Support - troubleshoot system issues, assist in defect identification

Internal Clients/Users - The Developer interacts with business users during planning, demonstrations, acceptance testing, etc.

Agile Roles (Scrum Master, Product Owner) - The Developer participates in the Scrum process with appropriate responsibility (Owns, Facilitates, Participates, Avoids) for assigned ceremonies and artifacts.

Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline is required.
  • Programming expertise: git, git workflows, Shell/Powershell, Python, Java, XML/XSLT, etc.
  • Expertise administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as GitLab or Github
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipeline for Salesforce.com application a strong plus
  • Knowledge with container orchestration services such as Kubernetes
  • Knowledge in database technologies – Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL, PL/SQL, etc.
  • Expertise in API technologies - Rest, SOAP, etc.
  • Operating System and internetworking knowledge - Windows, *NIX, TCP/IP, DNS
  • Knowledge of software product development standards and methodologies. Experience in systems design & implementation patterns especially object-oriented concepts.  Ability to read and create design documentation - UML, data flow, & state diagrams, etc.
  • Experience in full project lifecycle including all stages of design and implementation of custom applications as well as the deployment of packaged solutions
  • Possess excellent logical and analytical skills.
  • Possess exceptional verbal and written communications skills; ability to respond to internal client inquiries, effectively communicate critical problems and discuss resolutions with peers and management; ability to translate complex technical problems into simple lay terms understandable to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, adjust priorities, and find ways to operate efficiently in a challenging, dynamic environment
  • Preferred experience with Agile methodologies for software development, particularly Scrum
  • Knowledge of telecommunications networks and protocols a plus
