Job Summary

The Director, Inside Plant is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Headend/Hub facilities. Each of these facilities are expanded/constructed and maintained by Technicians, Leads and Managers under the direction of the Director. Responsible for directing and managing the Inside Plant Operations staff and facilities. Implement structured, consistent and disciplined operational practices to ensure stable product delivery aligned with company initiatives and expectations. Support operations including technical services and plant maintenance. Direct project planning, capital budgeting and assist with business plan development. Ensure a high degree of cross functional communication and participation in line with product deployment and support.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring and retaining staff with the required technical expertise
  • Maintaining focus on quality and the customer experience by setting high expectations for appropriate pro-active measures and rapid issue resolution –
  • Continuously developing team members in both leadership and technical capabilities to ensure ability to deliver appropriate solutions and build strong bench of talent under senior leaders This role has a direct and primary impact on the customer experience.

The Director is expected to take pro-active measures to avoid customer disruption by:

  • Emphasizing training on new technologies
  • Ensuring all maintenance work is consistent with company standards and practices and compliant with technical and administrative procedures
  • Ensuring all facilities meet environmental needs of the infrastructure that they host. Ensuring power consumption is monitored and backup power is maintained to avoid and/or minimize downtime.
  • Working with his/her direct reports and operational engineering teams to standardize operational procedures across headend sites and ensure consistent practices across the footprint
  • Managing the ongoing expansion/upgrade of headend/hub sites to support the launch of new services as they are made ready for launch to our customers
  • The Director supports daily activities of the Inside Plant, including new node activations and existing node splits in conjunction with OSP, construction and Field Engineering.  

To be successful, the Director works closely with a broad group of internal partners including Field Operations, Outside Plant, Critical Systems, Government Affairs, Product, Programming, Digital Services, NOC, Field Engineering and Customer Service to provide superior customer service and quick resolution of problems.

Qualifications

  • Management Skills - Project Management for activation of services, enhancements, Ability to lead/communicate with other groups to meet project plans
  • 7+years in Telecom/CATV or Network Operations Management
  • Proven ability to motivate/develop staff within the organization Technical/Functional Competencies
  • Strong technical knowledge across Headend, IP, Network platforms
  • Ability to explain issues and projects in terms appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to prepare project plans.
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent Industry experience  
  • Advanced knowledge of HFC and all FCC compliance reports and other rules and regulations
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Able to supervise and motivate others and handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Travel Required

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $155,509.00 - $222,156.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
