Job Summary

The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for improving and maintaining our broadcast control room technology and provide overall technical support to a 24/7 video streaming and production facility. The Broadcast Engineer is a highly organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated individual with outstanding communication, engineering and production skills. While the position will be part of the Engineering and Operations team, this hands-on role requires the ability to work closely with production and editorial staff to troubleshoot issues and improve production workflows. The Broadcast Engineer must be proactive in identifying and executing new projects and covering preventive maintenance and system/workflow upgrades.


• Maintain and repair equipment and facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Respond to technical emergencies.
• Shade cameras, receive and transmit video and audio and operate other equipment as part of the regular station operation.
• Participate in planning and implementation of technical projects.
• Assist in prioritizing and scheduling technical repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Wiring of facility.
• Maintain equipment, tool and parts inventory and service records.
• Assist with design of technical projects.
• Represent News 12 services in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree, including courses in electronics engineering and broadcast equipment or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2+ years experience as a Video Engineer.
  • Knowledge of production equipment, computers and automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of video/audio signals and satellite and RF technology. Experience maintaining and repairing studio production and field production equipment and computers.
  • Organizational skills. Leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
