Job Summary
Working closely with AUSA’s CEO, CFO and the executive leadership team, the SVP – Controller will oversee the company’s financial reporting, accounting, internal controls, tax, and financial system administration functions. This role will report directly to the CFO and primarily be responsible for leading, building, and improving the financial accounting and controllership organization. The ideal leader in this role has not only deep technical acumen, but is also a pragmatic problem solver with the ability to motivate and engage a team of talented financial professionals.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop best-in-class accounting, tax, audit, and financial systems teams.
- Partner with SVP FP&A to identify and monitor business trends and variances related to plan; provide information and insights related to monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Jointly with the Head of Accounting, ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported timely and in accordance with accounting policies on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; this includes the timely and accurate submission of required SEC filings.
- In partnership with the Head of Tax, oversee all matters related to federal, state, and local income taxes, sales & use tax, and property tax, including financial reporting of the company’s tax liabilities and approval of quarterly and annual financial statements footnote disclosures; responsible for strategic tax planning related to potential mergers, acquisitions, and spin-offs. Oversee external service providers and counsel related to tax planning, compliance, and controversies projects.
- Jointly with Internal Audit leadership, ensures the design, documentation, and maintenance of effective internal controls over the accounting and financial reporting processes, as well as the summarization and reporting of SOX results to executive leadership, external auditors, and the Audit Committee.
- Maintains current industry knowledge related to changes in Telecom laws, rules and procedures as they relate to accounting standards and tax law; advises appropriate parties of potential changes in regulations and practices which may impact operations and reporting.
- Oversees financial system administration, including data integrity and security.
- Leads the design, implementation, and execution of scalable and effective systems and processes across the accounting, tax, audit, and financial systems teams, acting as a strategic leader with a goal of enhancing financial reporting, reporting analytics, and systems administration processes.
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CPA required.
- 15+ years of progressive financial reporting and accounting experience, including 5+ years in a previous Controller role
- Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in US accounting rules and SOX
- Experience leading audits and managing external audit relationships
- Experience in telecommunications, media, and/or technology strongly preferred
- Proven ability to collaborate with and build effective business partnerships at senior levels of the organization
- Adaptable communication skills to articulate financial concepts to non-financial audiences

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $250,000.00 - $287,500.00 / year. The rate/Range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
