Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on privacy attorney who will report into the SVP Legal and work closely with colleagues across the organization to help grow Altice USA’s broadband, mobile and advertising businesses in a fast-changing regulatory climate by building privacy into our products and features, driving compliance with applicable data privacy and security laws, and building and maintaining a privacy culture within Altice USA. The ideal candidate will have some experience in the ad tech and/or telecommunications industries.
Responsibilities
- Work with SVP Legal to develop, implement and maintain privacy governance program; oversee, maintain and update all privacy policies, terms of service and other consumer-facing legal policies and resources for all lines of business.
- Act as subject matter expert for privacy matters across all lines of business, including Optimum, Cheddar, RateMyProfessors and our advertising businesses, and provide legal counsel on the implementation of privacy requirements.
- Track and research developments relating to new and pending privacy and data protection laws, including the CCPA/CPRA and other state laws, translate that into practical, effective advice, and help lead compliance efforts relating to these laws.
- Work with engineering, product, marketing and advertising business teams to embed privacy by design requirements in our products, services and processes.
- Help define Altice USA’s privacy positions for customer and vendor agreements; review and negotiate data protection requirements in commercial and third-party agreements.
- Work with cross functional teams to design and conduct awareness and training efforts to enhance understanding of data privacy obligations and compliance.
- Perform privacy impact assessments and similar analyses of existing and proposed products, services, systems, and processes, identify gaps and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Support SVP Legal and Security Incident Response Team with investigations of data security and privacy incidents and notifications to impacted individuals and relevant agencies.

Qualifications
- J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state. Minimum of seven (7) years of legal experience.
- Proficient in privacy and data security requirements, particularly U.S. state privacy laws, with experience working within a privacy framework such as the CCPA/CPRA.
- Knowledge regarding privacy requirements for digital marketing and targeted advertising is a plus.
- Ability to lead and collaborate on cross-functional projects with little supervision.
- Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Experience and/or interest in project management to establish or improve processes and streamline legal team efforts with existing workflows within the company.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Mature judgment, innovative thinking, and a desire to take initiative and think two steps ahead.
- CIPP certification preferred.

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $183,600.00 - $233,400.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
