Job Summary

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, evaluation of existing call translations/Call routing/traffic management services and technologies as well as the recommendation of additions, improvements and optimizations, and changes in the routing and infrastructure. This includes but not limited to thorough understanding of Signal Transfer Point (STP), ENUM, Call Agents, Centralized Routing Services, Media / Trunking Gateways, Routing / Translations, and Traffic Planning and Reporting. Responsible for the maintenance, integration and validation of existing and next generation products and services such as Mobile Voice solution and Fixed Line solution. Develops and executes maintenance policies and procedures to ensure that performance metrics are met for the voice core. Responsible for technical troubleshooting and mitigation strategies related to network outages and individual issues escalated by Network Operation Center and Voice Operation team and maintaining the appropriate service level agreement. Provides technical guidance to operations team in evaluation and migration of legacy voice core to next generation core. Participates in Root Cause Corrective Action reviews to analyze major outages that occur in the system. Leads the analysis of performance and outage data and recommend system technical, process, monitoring and control actions / improvements. This person will manage and continue to improve the process for promoting changes (hardware, software and content) into the production systems. Provides support for internal departments and organizations on technical clarifications and customer facing issues. Provides technical updates to upper management regarding trending issues or troubles. Performs other duties and participates in projects when required.   • Working knowledge of the following:
    • Cisco core router devices and configurations.
    • All Routing protocols and configurations (to support BGP, OSPF & EIGRP)
    • Switching and configuration options (VLANS, HSRP, NSSA, DHCP, PBR, VPN's, NAT, etc)
    • Internet applications and their protocols ( TCP, UDP, Peer to peer type apps, etc.)
  • DOCSIS & WiFi Octoscope testing, Fiber Testing, Wifi mesh Protocols, and TR69
  • Deployment to production and problem resolution
  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Responsible to support Executive customer escalations
  • Responsible to support Beta technical issues
  • Valid Driver's License, satisfactory driving record required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s in Industrial, Electrical, Electronic or Software Systems Engineer or similar
  • 3 or more years Meta switch Experience
  • 3 or more years of Voice Infrastructure experience- Meta switch and Nokia/Siemens. Ribbon, 5ESS, CS2K/C20 nice to have
  • CPE, Wi-Fi, Cable Modem and Router testing
  • 5 or more years of Telecom experience or relevant work experience
  • Expert knowledge and experience in key VoIP signaling protocols such as SIP and Media protocols such as RTP and SRTP
  • Experience and strong knowledge in SIP, SDP, DIAMETER, RTP, RTCP and Transcoding
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Scripting languages a plus. (Perl, CGI, Java and PHP)
  • Previous experience working in a large site Voice Service Provider
  • Previous experience working in a dynamic, high-pressure production environment
  • Flexible working hours, 24 hours on call systems support. Ability to work during maintenance windows
