Job Summary
Optimum is seeking a highly strategic and results driven leader to serve as the Vice President, GM Market Development. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for formulating and executing market expansion strategies including New Markets, Edge Out, Subsidy (Bead) for both B2C and B2B, and will be accountable for driving delivery across a cross-functional team. This role leads profit and loss (P&L) for these initiatives and driving a key element of the company's growth by identifying and capitalizing on new market opportunities end to end.
Responsibilities
Market Expansion Strategy
- Develop and refine the overall market expansion strategy, aligning it with the company's goals and objectives.
- Identify and assess new market opportunities, leveraging comprehensive market research and competitive analysis.
- Lead and collaborate on identification of opportunities with Growth team, Area GMs, Construction, Government Affairs (G&A) and Finance to track and ensure ROI on investment performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop market entry plans end-to-end with Growth Marketing, Sales, Construction, G&A, Finance, Area GMs segmentation, SPO oversight and GTM etc.
P&L Management
- Assume ownership of the P&L responsibility for market expansion efforts, and subscriber growth driven by such efforts.
- Drive delivery of the homes passed budget (200K passings annually for 2024) and broadband penetration.
- Develop and manage the market expansion budget along with clear financial targets (OKRs and KPIs) that justify the investment allocations.
- Build a market expansion roadmap and execute on it in alignment with Optimum’s Product/Market Development Process teams to deliver on the target results.
- Engage various stakeholders to assess market expansion opportunities and develop a clear ROI for each that drives the decision to move forward.
- Develop and maintain a DACI (Driver|Approver|Contributor|Informed) model to govern the execution of various market expansion projects and ensure accountability.
Market Research and Planning
- Partner with the Growth team on research and planning efforts required to successfully enter new markets, including regulatory compliance, infrastructure requirements, and local market dynamics.
- Work with cross-functional team to develop go-to-market strategies and tactics, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives.

Qualifications
- 15+ years’ experience in the areas of Market Planning, Business Development, Sales, and/or Portfolio Management in fiber build or telecommunications industry
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Lead with an entrepreneurial and business transformation mindset with previous experience leading in a P&L focused or GM capacity.
- Proven track record of successfully leading strategic market development and planning efforts in the telecommunications or broadband industry.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L responsibilities.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record as a collaborative cross-functional leader who can drive action and deliverables regardless of reporting relationships.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations in the broadband industry is an advantage.
- Located out of either Long Island City, NY or Plano, TX with willingness to travel as needed to support market expansion activities.

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in (New York) is $180,000.00 - $213,750.00 / year.
