Job Function

 

The position will be responsible for working with the FP&A team to perform financial & strategic analysis, forecasting, reporting, and support of strategic growth initiatives.

 

The role reports to the VP of Corporate Finance, have visibility with senior leadership and interact with functional groups across the business. The role will also be responsible for supporting traditional financial planning workstreams, such as quarterly forecasting process, development of key operational and financial metrics, financial reporting, corporate development support for M&A, expansion analysis and other analysis as needed.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Use internal systems, tools, and reports to update financial models to review with team and senior leadership.
  • Create and update reporting deliverables to department heads, senior management, and the Board of Managers.
  • Build relationships across finance and the broader organization; understand programmatic initiatives and priorities; partner with finance and operations to develop financial and non-financial metrics.
  • Support corporate development activities, future growth opportunities and strategic decision making.
  • Identify, develop, or improve financial and operational metrics used to drive the business. Work cross functionally to develop reports and analysis, as needed, and test underlying assumptions.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-resolution skills.
  • Assist in analysis of buy-side acquisition targets including modeling and diligence materials review.
  • Work cross functionally and with a team of other interns on a summer intern project including a final presentation to senior leadership.
  • Other financial/operational analysis as needed.

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Eligible candidates should be entering their senior year of an undergraduate program or be recent graduates of an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • Candidates must be local to one of our office locations. Bethpage NY, NYC, Golden CO, Wakefield MA, White Plains NY.
  • Bachelor’s degree or ongoing coursework in finance, accounting, economics, data analytics or equivalent experience.
  • Progressive experience working with data analysis, financial modeling, business systems within mid-to-large organizations or equivalent coursework experience.
  • High level understanding of US GAAP, internal controls & financial reporting.
  • Telecom experience preferred but not required.
  • Understanding operational finance and value creation.
  • Highly motivated with an eagerness to learn new technologies, be part of a collaborative team, and maintain a transformational and creative mindset.
  • High energy self-motivator with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work effectively through collaboration across disciplines and partners.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both technical and non-technical issues and resolve complex problems.
  • Proven ability to achieve goals in an ever-changing and fast paced environment.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion/Essbase, Oracle, Salesforce preferred.
  • Proficient in interpreting business and technical requirements and supporting decision-making that is optimal for Lightpath growth and performance.
