Job Summary
The Director of Technical Accounting & Policy is responsible for supporting our businesses with a focus on technical accounting for complex transactions. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the appropriate accounting treatment and policies are consistently applied in accordance with US GAAP. The Director of Technical Accounting & Policy, will report to the VP, Assistant Controller and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to explain technical accounting requirements to senior management and business partners in a simplified manner.
Responsibilities
- Support the business in determining the appropriate accounting treatment of material and complex transactions.
- Developing and updating corporate accounting policies and procedures relating to a wide variety of accounting issues
- Prepare technical accounting memorandums documenting conclusions of complex accounting issues and transactions with reference to appropriate accounting literature
- Develop processes and procedures to ensure consistent application of accounting principles across the organization
- Interact with external and internal auditors, and business leaders to ensure appropriate accounting conclusions are reached
- Monitor standard setter activity and assess the impact of new developments in accounting standards

Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of Accounting experience
- Big 4 public accounting firm experience
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability to understand complex financial transactions, research accounting issues and document conclusions
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong business relationships with all levels and business areas in the organization
- 4-year degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $141,372.00 - $201,960.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
