Job Summary
Responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of annual Construction Capital, Staffing, KPI and Operating Expense budgets, forecasts and business plans in a highly proficient manner while verifying accuracy of content and adherence to company goals and objectives. Responsible for conducting variance analysis of all Construction / Design activities for the purpose of assessing financial status against established business goals. Make recommendations to direct reports regarding future financial planning. Assist Construction / Design teams in the development of analysis for all construction build and plant upgrade initiatives or adhoc analysis as needed. Identifies risks and opportunities and present findings to senior management. Manage Business Planning staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the successful completion of the annual budget, forecasts, long range plans or other financial plans by ensuring it meets the requirements of the Company in terms of achieving stated financial and operating objectives and is submitted on a timely basis.
- Analyzes financial plans by comparing to trends, past performance industry standards. Identifies risks and opportunities in the plans.
- Conveys assessment of plans and any issues, opportunities, or suggestions to senior management.
- Directs the development of the budget models, and financial planning schedules to be used by operations to create budgets, forecasts, and other plans. Develops analysis tools such as return on investment models to evaluate financial plans submitted.
- Provides advice and feedback to operating groups on plans submitted to ensure compliance with financial goals. Investigates significant variances to plan, obtains explanation and participates in development of action steps necessary to get back to plan.
- Work with Accounting to assess proper accounting treatment for activities (capital, operating expense, prepayments) as well as identification and adherence to SOX controls.
- Hires, guides, and develops support staff to carry out detailed financial analysis.
- Coordinate efforts related to new business ventures or opportunities as directed by senior financial management. Identifies risks and opportunities and presents findings to senior management.
- Monthly closing analysis, review, and variance commentary.
Qualifications
- Ability to manage staff, set expectations and monitor delegated activities
- Effective written and oral communication with all levels of management, including Executive Management
- Ability to establish effective interdepartmental relations
- Effective use of time management to meet goals and objectives
- Ability to develop new strategies relating to financial analysis.
- Ability to use available tools to create adhoc reports to meet business requirements.
- 8-12 years of related financial controller/business planning experience
- MBA in Finance/Accounting or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills; demonstrable logical skills.
- Demonstrable PC knowledge, preferably MS Office and proficient Excel knowledge. Hyperion experience a plus.
