Job Summary
- The Server Administrator represents a technical and experienced position in the Digital Services Dept supporting Altice USA's iO and OOL/OV integrated services. This position will be called upon to represent the Digital Services and Network Mgmt depts. by internal and external organizations. An individual in this position is responsible for making the production environment network more reliable by performing day-to-day system operations including system monitoring, troubleshooting, problem identification, resolution and restoral following established and documented procedures and with minimal direction. They are also expected to create and develop troubleshooting and restoral procedures and to use their technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve newly encountered problems that have not been previously documented. They are expected to use strong decision making skills to prevent and resolve all technical server issues within the dept including those that are system wide as well as individual customer problems. They must be able to work independently on tasks of moderate and high complexity and assist the other NWM groups when necessary. They are expected to use their technical knowledge and ability to work with others to solve technical issues in a timely fashion. They will assist in project work in addition to their operational responsibilities. They are also responsible for customer care, troubleshooting and problem resolution for iTV/Classifieds business customers. The Server Administrator is required to assist Associate, newly hired team members and contractors in operational and technical procedures. This position is critical to the Internet products offered by Altice USA. It provides high visibility and high level technical support within the Digital Services Dept. The Server Admin position provides a high level of technical experience that allows timely resolutions to problems. This position focuses on maintaining the overall health of the Altice USA data center operation and network by following and executing operational monitoring, troubleshooting and restoral procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide third-level support for internal departments and organizations.
- Operation, administration and maintenance of all production systems including installation of server hardware and software.
- Monitor and perform performance tuning of the residential, commercial, and educational production environments.
- Identify deficiencies in the DS environment and recommend remedial actions/solutions.
- Create and implement scripts as required to improve systems and operational performance.
- Participates in the deployment of new technology with direction from the Lead(s) or senior management.
- Respond to and resolve customer problems and tasks in a timely and efficient manner via phone, email, departmental and corporate trouble ticketing systems.
- Understand and execute department operational policies and procedures.
- Escalation of difficult or complex problems to ensure timely recovery.
- Maintain responsibility for the daily operational reports (Turnover, Consolidated, various UTT and iO reports) as well as any other reporting requirement as requested by management.
- Participate in special projects, maintenance activities and perform other duties as directed by management
- Create and maintain system documentation for all production systems as required.
- Develop and create Database systems as required.
- In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, this position is also responsible for:
- Performing any and all administrative tasks through use of appropriate company documentation, ensuring documentation is completed in a full and accurate manner.
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Altice USA policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that all work related equipment is utilized and maintained in a safe and responsible manner, and that all work related tasks are performed in a manner that is in compliance with OSHA safety rules and regulations
Qualifications
- More than 4+ years previous system administration experience on multiple operating
- systems (LINUX UNIX Solaris and Windows are required).
- Previous experience working in a mid to large site/network.
- Previous experience working in a dynamic, high pressure production environment.
- Previous experience managing systems with a large customer base.
- Prior knowledge/experience with Internet Video.
- Strong knowledge of networking and telephony technologies.
- Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field is required. SUN and related technology certifications or equivalent work experience are required.

Flexibility to work an overnight shift periodically to support projects
- High knowledge of system administration tools and processes.
- Superior knowledge of server technologies on various operating systems
- (LINUX UNIX Solaris and Windows are required).
- Good programming skills (Shell, UNIX, Perl, PHP)
- Strong understanding of networking/routing and protocols in a distributed computing
- environment.
- Strong understanding of video processing and delivery systems
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills with co-workers.
- Ability to work independently on tasks of moderate and high complexity and assist
- systems engineering with tasks of high complexity
- Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on workload.
- Ability to work as a team player.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00 - $126,684.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
