Job Summary

Reporting into the General Counsel, the SVP Legal - Programming is responsible for providing executive-level legal support for the negotiation, drafting, management and enforcement of the Company’s content distribution agreements and strategic legal advice on related issues and disputes related to those agreements, copyright, and content rights generally as they apply across the business operations

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all legal matters related to content acquisition including active negotiation, drafting, management and enforcement of business-critical affiliation agreements.
  • Manages relationships with outside counsel to maximize performance and achievement of business objectives.
  • Directs outside counsel working on content acquisition and related copyright and regulatory issues (and works closely with senior leaders on associated budgeting and tracking.
  • Manages counsel that supports the negotiation and drafting of programming and content acquisition agreements, partnering closely with the Programming and Product groups regarding such agreements and related content issues
  • Supports counsel advising the news & advertising business of Altice USA, Inc., related to content acquisition, distribution and advertising related matters.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years’ relevant legal experience with respect to the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial distribution and content licensing agreements within the media/communications industry.
  • Demonstrated ability as an experienced attorney to help build consensus among disparate interests to achieve business goals.
  • Prior experience directly supporting or within a corporate environment preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of broad range of relevant legal practice areas including contracting, regulatory and intellectual property.
  • Excellent contract negotiation, management, and drafting skills.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver. Demonstrated ability to move complex legal issues and projects through a corporate organization from conception through implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Strong business acumen and analytical skills as a senior attorney
  • JD degree and admission to a state bar required

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $250,000.00 - $287,500.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
