Job Summary
The Design Manager is responsible for all Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC) and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network survey and design for plant additions, upgrades and extensions within the stated Service Level Agreement (SLA). This position is responsible to direct subscriber requests through survey, design, and cost estimating towards the release of units to CSC Sales organization for required approvals prior to packaging and forwarding of completed residential, commercial, and municipal units to construction via the Engineering Tracking System (ETS). The Manager leads the survey for the routing and planning of the FTTH/HFC/Fiber infrastructure. System design and topology must ensure the accurate deployment of Wi-Fi AP placement and coverage. Understanding of the Wi-Fi topology to ensure optimal coverage of defined areas. Coordinates with CSC engineering departments; Fiber, Lightpath, and Construction, property owners, Sales departments, builders, contractors, and where required, utilities, for project design completion. Responsible for the management of all NWM coax, fiber, and Wi-Fi mapping data: as-builds, plots, etc., and the coordination of data flow in PNI/GIS mapping system, and ensuring updates to support field my World deployments. Maintenance of the GIS technologies to support NOC and field activities. Develop, justify, and manage to the approved budget for capital and operational spending, identify and document any variance to final cost and budget. Identify and facilitate the training and development of all Cablevision Design employees and contractor personnel as it pertains to new technology, safety, career progression and regulatory requirements. Maintain open lines of communication with staff, other departments and customers, utility and government agencies, contractors and engineering companies to ensure the highest level of service.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of products and services within the stated Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Responsible for all engineering records maintenance (mapping and system stats)
- Participate in the development and management of databases for project activity tracking
- Manage to approve operational & capital budget & forecasts
- Identify and facilitate training and career development to all related personnel:
- Communicate and administer company policies & procedures (HR)
- Request and/or support Corporate Engineering with product testing and evaluation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years business management experience, with demonstrated increased levels of responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and leadership.
- Minimum 5 year's experience in Design and/or Construction field operations.
- Ability to execute clearly defined goals and objectives.
- Proven ability to plan, lead, organize, and control in a dynamic, multi-functional work environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Project Management skills.
- Financial/analytical skills.
- Works well under pressure.
- Ability to manage relationships within all levels.
- Technical understanding of broadband communications
- Sound understanding of design and engineering standards for both coaxial and fiber plant. Versed in multiple HFC/Fiber and Wi-Fi parameters and design architectures.

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $102,816.00 - $168,912.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
