Job Summary
The Materials Logistics Manager is a vital part of the Lightpath OSP team. Lightpath has near-term plans to dramatically accelerate expansion of our fiber network builds in multiple markets. This individual is responsible for working with internal teams, material manufactures and or vendors and outside plant contractors to ensure all materials purchased by Lightpath is always accounted for.
The Materials Logistics Manager position, is responsible for overseeing all the material management activities and logistics taking place in and out of the facility, continuously improving efficiencies and processes, and acting as the interface between material vendors, in house project managers and outsourced construction contractors. This individual will also be responsible for building and launching a materials management software tool within our ESRI software platform.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple material vendors/manufacturers.
- Set up material management processes and procedures.
- Set up a material management system for Lightpath.
- Ensure all materials are accurately accounted for delivery and when deployed to the field.
- Manage material yard access at the contractor level, if required.
- Work with OSP Contractors to coordinate materials logistics and inventory within their yards on a weekly monthly basis.
- Create standard work procedures for internal teams.
- Collaborate with department managers in knowledge sharing, problem solving, and providing positive leadership within assigned functional areas.
- Develop and manage a return to manufacturer process.
- Develop and manage quality assurance and cycle count program designed to ensure continuous process improvement.
- Work with Business Operations to establish and oversee projects dedicated to auditing and assess processes and procedures to ensure effectiveness.
- Determine performance metrics to gain visibly to any shortfalls in the processes developed.
- Develop and implement a training program for construction contractors to adhere to when within the Lightpath vendor contractor material storage space.
- Develop and maintain shipping procedures and efficiencies, inventory maintenance and accuracy, receiving and order shipments.
- Managing through the PO process within Lightpath and Issuing PO’s to vendors.
- Working with legal dept on MPS agreements with all material manufacturers/ suppliers.
- Develop reports for all materials in all marks to ensure all materials are accounted for from manufactures to vendors to being installed in the ROW using existing systems and reports from vendors/contractors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in Material and Logistics management in a high-volume OSP deployment environment.
- Telecom Logistics and material management experience highly desired.
- Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of LP personnel.
- Competencies include excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
