Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior SQL Server Database Administrator with Oracle to manage our SQL Server and Oracle database environment.
The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex database systems that support the organization's data management requirements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as SQL/Oracle Database Administrator in a complex business environment using both SQL server and Oracle in Windows/AIX/REHL.
- Be primarily assigned as a SQL Server DBA working with other Oracle DBAs.
- Have senior level experience in SQL Server database administration, with a working knowledge as Oracle database administrator.
- Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
- Support SQL database and Server including performance management, security, installations, upgrades, patches, backup, recovery, space management, performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Deploy changes in database, proactively monitoring of performance and capacity planning of RDBMS. This includes writing power shell scripts and procedures to automate the process.
- Provide management with recommendations for upgrades and maintenance to ensure the Database Server is running optimally. Perform backup and recovery process, including disaster recovery performance, tuning of database and application.
- Responsible for planning, designing, coordinating and administration of SQL Database Server, including database definition, structure, documentation, standard, and recommending/executing a backup and recovery strategy.
- Work with IT operation team to support various products/applications and assist business users and developers with database-related issues.
- Provide day-to-day production database server administration, perform troubleshooting, and remediate various systems/applications issues.
- Follow and enforce IT Operation policies and procedures.
- Efficiently manage routine DBA requests.
- Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work on a team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related degree program
- Minimum 8 years of experience as SQL server database DBA.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as Oracle database DBA.
- Must have experience and expertise in SQL database server installations, migration,
- upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/recovery, performance-oriented design.
- Must be able to lead application development teams in the optimal use of database and
- transaction management technology through creation and communication of standards
- and walkthrough of critical application components.
- Microsoft Certified Professional, DBA - MS SQL Certification Preferred.
- Solid understanding of RDBMS with in-depth knowledge of Transaction SQL, PL/SQL, and Webservices.
- Experience with Windows Server environments and Microsoft SQL Server database technologies.
- Good experience in configuring and using SQL Server Always on Availability.
- Experience with SSRS, SSIS, TOAD, SQL Developer, and other SQL tools.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
