Job Summary

The Staff Data Engineer of Data Quality is responsible for technically leading projects to develop strategic insights that address complex, critically important business issues at Altice USA. The Data Engineer will work in a fast paced, high-energy team to deliver cutting edge analytical projects for Altice USA senior management.

This candidate will be expected to identify appropriate opportunities for Data Quality validation of technical data and analytical solutions and develop associated test frameworks and processes. In addition, the Data Engineer will participate in the establishment of long-term improvement of testing processes and tools.  They will create complex workflows and queries to validate executive level reporting and be responsible for writing, executing, and debugging code to perform data completeness, correctness, data transformation and data quality testing.

The Data Engineer must have programming proficiency with analytical platform software and Data and Analytics systems expertise including but not limited to SQL, Alteryx (ETL), MicroStrategy, Tableau, Looker, Cloud Data and Storage Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the day-to-day technical leader and central point of contact for multiple concurrent analytical projects, providing technical guidance to other staff members
  • Design of test scenarios and test plans to ensure that tests can be implemented and executed to validate ETL and business reporting requirements
  • Run test validations, using SQL and ETL, at various levels including DB validation, logging validation, reporting metric validation and UI validation
  • Partner directly with business unit (Sales, Marketing, Product, Ops, Engineering) senior executives to leverage quantitative insights to address complex, high impact business issues
  • Provide thought leadership and assume responsibility for the team's work throughout the analytical process
  • Continually builds and maintains expertise in latest state-of-the-art testing methodologies as they pertain to existing and planned projects.
  • Help identify value creation opportunities across organizations, including developing business cases, e.g., strategy, financial and business analysis, modeling, cost savings/synergies, etc.
  • Assist with creating project resource estimates, metrics to track completion phase, defect reports, defect prevention, development efficiency and quality
  • Work with Project Managers and Business Analysts in understanding and translating technical business requirements
  • Provide strong technical mentorship for more junior resources on the Data and Analytics team
  • Maintain working relationships across organization, including within analytics team, business units, and senior management
  • Support Project Management personnel in the development of Functional Technical Reviews (FTR) or Walk Throughs

Qualifications

  •   8+ years of relevant employment experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, other applied science field
  • Experience as a technical lead, providing specialized solutions to complex business problems
  • Strong hands-on SQL and ETL coding experience, along with expertise knowledge of RDBMS (ie Oracle, Google BigQuery), Cloud Data and Storage Systems a must
  • Experience with languages and systems to run independent validations against, such as BI Tools (MicroStrategy) and Data Visualization (Tableau or Looker) a must
  • Experience testing data for data marts, data warehouses, and data integration solutions a must
  • Knowledge of database architectures such as relative, star and snowflake schemas a must
  • Competency in data manipulation and analysis: accessing raw data in varied formats with different methods and analyzing and processing data to draw insights into business problems a must
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Alteryx a must
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning (Parametric and Non-Parametric) algorithms strongly suggested
  • Understanding Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) principals strongly suggested
  • Experience in test automation using tools such as Query Surge or QTP strongly suggested
  • Experience with other programming languages (ie python) a plus
  • Highly detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law.  Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $96,020.00  - $153,632.00 / year. The rate/Range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
