Job Summary
Responsible for the oversight and directing of Altice USA, Outside Plant (OSP) Construction, involving activities in any or all the following areas: new construction, construction upgrades, infrastructure modifications, fiber optics, permitting, make ready, planning. OSP construction involves SMB, Enterprise, Carrier, and Residential Construction. The VP of West Construction directs all aspects of construction projects to ensure their completion according to standards, specifications, schedules, budget and contractual commitments and provides direction and guidance to regional Construction Directors/Managers and other personnel to ensure the coordination of activities and the timely, accurate completion of projects within budget.
Responsibilities
- Organize and manage the West Construction group responsible for:
- New Construction including HFC, RFoG, GPON, Commercial, Carrier, Fiber Backbone
- Construction Upgrades including HFC, FTTx
- Infrastructure Modifications including cable replacement, node splits, force relocates
- Permitting including managing relationships with pole owners, municipalities, DOTs and various authorities
- Construction Contractors from onboarding to delivery
- Ensuring timely completion of projects, within budget and required quality
- Setting up standards and specifications for Construction projects
- Oversee 28 construction areas.
- Manage in-house Construction and Fiber Techs.
- Develop cross-training and skill building across multiple functions to improve load management and resiliency.
- Ensure that all regions operate with same processes and guidelines while making just necessary adaptations to meet local specificities.
- Develops and implements standards to ensure efficient construction of all HFC and FTTx OSP Construction.
- Ensure such standards are enforced through testing and implementation of new build of OSP Construction.
- Develops and forecasts budgets.
- Develops RFPs, negotiates contract labor costs, and assists in the selection and evaluation of contract bidders for projects.
- Ensures that Contract Labor and selected Vendors meet safety and audits are addressed and adhered to by standards set forth by Altice USA Safety Department.
- Oversees and manages the performance of work performed by contractor and/or in-house personnel.
- Ability to effectively manage a high-performing team.
- Ability to work with GIS, maps and proficient in geometry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science or considering equivalent work experience.
- Ten or more years of HFC, OSP and/or FTTX construction and implementation.
- Five or more years of Leadership experience.
- Up to 50% of travel as required by business needs.
- Strong Construction background in Telecommunications
- Strong leadership
- Excellent Interpersonal skills
