Job Summary

 

Works under the direction of the Manager/Lead of the Field Support Team.

Perform Installation, Maintenance and ISP related job responsibilities. 

Responsibilities of this position include but not limited to support for Metro Ethernet, Sonet, Optical and Carrier Wave transport technologies.

Ability to support networking configurations, troubleshooting, diagnosing and maintaining a variety of enterprise voice and data WAN/LAN communication services.

The technician must interface with all internal departments, external client vendors and NMC support personnel to solve complex network problems.

Conduct advance maintenance and support for all compact AC/DC systems that provide modular power requirements for Telecommunications equipment. He will install, replace and maintain 12V power supply systems and DC batteries. 

Ensure all company technical requirements are followed and all Lightpath policies and practices achieved for all aspects of the maintenance services and equipment.  

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the receipt of a customer trouble reports, dispatch to customer location sites for repair purposes. Ensure all MTTR and resolution timelines are within objectives. 
  • Configure, Install, Test and Support fiber Optic based Voice and Data services for our business customers.
  • Maintain Network Documentation.
  • Travel Regionally to perform duties.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation.
  • Perform equipment Installation, maintenance and cabling task in a customer environment.
  • Perform power maintenance procedures for rack and wall mount assemblies and inspect and replace power supplies and batteries at client locations.  Provide facility support for commercial power loss and provide DC redundancies.
  • Support all Lightpath Telecommunications equipment.
  • Provide advanced network support for IP based solutions and configurations.
  • Perform field maintenance functions on all network equipment, and services from the direction of the Network Management Center.
  • Provide onsite tier II support to clients and identify root cause for all reported anomalies working independently.
  • Conduct extensive testing at client demark locations for Voice, Data and Internet and Ethernet services.
  • Job also requires performing roof top troubleshooting with appropriate Safety gear.
  • Complete acceptance and maintenance test procedures with end users, managers, and technical teams to communicate information until resolutions are reached.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and communicate resolution information for CPE equipment failures. Interact and provide guidance to customer, vendor to ensure high service quality.

Qualifications

 

  • 2-4 years’ experience in Installing, Provisioning, and Repairing of telecommunication equipment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • CCIP, CCNP certifications preferred.
  • Must have intermediate level understanding of the following protocols architectures, operating systems, programming languages or tools: TCP/IP, OSPF, Ethernet, Network Protocol Analyzers, Traceroute, Ping, SNMP.
  • Must have a CCNA, CCNP, or adequate work experience to show competency
