Job Summary
Responsible for installation and repair of telecommunications equipment and services located in customer premises, COLO and Data Center Locations. This role involves the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced optical transport and DWDM networks. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in telecommunications infrastructure and hands-on experience with Cisco MPLS, Ciena6500 optical systems, ROADM, SONET networks and Dark Fiber OTRD testing.
Responsibilities
• Assemble, Configure and Install electronic components supporting Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM and ROADM technologies using DLR and Method & Procedures documentation.
• Travel to remote sites and data centers for equipment installation and maintenance as required.
• Conduct OTDR, power meter/light source, and insertion loss tests on dark fiber networks to assess and certify optical performance.
• Analyze OTDR traces to identify and localize fiber faults, splices, connectors, and reflectance anomalies.
• Perform cabling, patching, and cross-connects in telecom rooms and data centers.
• Coordinate with Activation Teams for circuit turn-ups, migrations, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain and document test results, fiber plant layouts, equipment configurations, and work orders.
• Provision, Test and turn up network facility circuits located in Data Center and COLO locations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
• Connect AC or DC power to various types of Telecommunications equipment and verify back up battery functionality as required.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime and on-call rotation as required.
Qualifications
• 10+ years’ experience in Installation, provisioning and repairing telecommunication equipment.
• Thorough understanding of all phases of network installation, including Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, Ethernet, WAN/LAN and TCP/IP applications.
• Hands-on experience with Ciena 6500 series, including provisioning, alarms, and optical power management.
• Proficient with OTDRs (e.g., EXFO, JDSU,VeEx) and associated testing/reporting tools.
• Strong knowledge of DWDM systems, optical theory, and fiber characterization.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook email.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of fiber optics, CAT5e/6 cabling, and basic physical layer troubleshooting.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and conflict resolution skills.
