This position has both development and operational responsibilities.

The role of the System Engineer is to develop, operate, modify, build, implement, test and document hardware and software to meet specific project and departmental objectives.

The candidate must be able to analyze and troubleshoot potential flaws in the implementation of diverse technology systems as well as develop and document methods of successfully introducing the technology into both lab and production environments.

The candidate will participate in departmental/project related technical meetings and must be capable of multitasking across many diverse project activities.

The candidate will be part of a core team that builds and supports the multi-tenant engineering lab(s) and the networks and systems within. They will also serve in the transformation of OSS/BSS systems and system components.

System Engineers routinely forecast and compare solution performance against established performance objectives and measurements. They develop plans and help perform tests for solution functionality, integrity, capacity and stress/load/performance capabilities. The candidate may at times be called on to participate in other activities that occur after-hours or require on-call availability.

The candidate should be fluent and comfortable in hybrid in-person / work-from-home scenarios and be able to travel freely between different local Altice USA facilities with minimal overhead.

  • Switching/Routing infrastructure and protocols
  • Routed protocols
  • Voice protocols and architectures (legacy and VoIP)
  • Protocol and bit-level diagnostic tools
  • Structured cabling
  • Optical transport technologies
  • Network security and VPN components / practices
  • Network-based telephony transport and voice applications
  • RF transport systems and architectures
  • DHCP / DNS systems and extensions
  • Various server/desktop/handheld operating systems
  • Heterogeneous network and server environments

  • Experience with call-flows, flow charts and programming logic
  • Experience in documenting lab results and generating various reports

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with co-workers and end-users/customers
  • Degree in CS, EE, CE or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience with design, configuration and installation activities in an applicably sized network
